Srikant Jichkar

Many of the people wouldn't know about Shrikant Jichkar. He was the man who was officially known as India's most qualified person; because during his lifetime, the man had amassed 20 degrees from writing 42 University examinations!

With his name immortalized in the Limca Book of Records, Jichkar already had 14 portfolios to his credit by the time he turned 25. As per the Limca Book of Records, Jichkar's status as the country's most qualified person remains uncontested.

During his lifetime, Jichkar earned the following degrees:

Jichkar passed most of his exams with first division and won several gold medals as well.

The man appeared for 42 University examinations during the period of 1973 and 1990. After clearing his IPS exam, he soon resigned only to write his IAS exam which he cleared as well. After four months, he resigned from his post to contest the first general elections. 

He got elected to Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in 1980, becoming India's youngest politician. He also served as the member of Maharashtra Legislative Council, as a Minister of State, and as a parliamentarian of Rajya Sabha.

Jichkar's love for academics is proven further by his large collection of 52,000 books that he maintained in his personal library. The genius passed away at the age of 49 in a car accident.

Dr. Hardial Singh Sainbhy

With a total of 35 degrees to his credit, Dr. Sainbhy is one of the most degreed people in the world. This Indian super student has degrees in a wide array of subjects, holding 15 masters degrees, five post-graduate diplomas, a bachelor of law, AMIE and AMSIE certification, and numerous bachelor’s degrees.

Sainbhy has spent most of his life in a college classroom and plans to keep earning degrees for as long as he’s able to attend classes.

Amitabh Bachchan

Let us know about the qualification of Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. He loved studies and didn’t stop after completing his graduation from Sherwood College in Nainital.

He went to Delhi and did a double major in Science and Arts from Kirori Mal College and also an honorary Doctorate degree from Queensland University in Australia to his credit. Guess all that education did help him in turning out to be not just a great actor but a wonderful human being with a statesman like personality.

R.K. Rai

Some people just can’t get enough of being a student, and R.K. Rai is one of those people. Over his lifetime this 65-year-old has earned more than 30 degrees, including a mind-boggling 22 MAs, 5 PhDs, and three D. Litts – all in widely divergent fields. Now retired from his work as a professor, Rai believes that lifelong learning is essential to a happy life, which may be why he plans to keep earning degrees even though he’s retired from academics. He’s currently working on a MA in astrology from Magadh University and plans to return to college as an administrator in the coming months.

Ashoka J. Prasad Jr.

Indian professor Ashoka Prasad is a leader in the medical field in his country, helping advance pediatrics and neonatal care for Indian citizens and has taught at schools like Columbia, U Penn, Harvard, Yale, and Cambridge.

While he may teach health-related topics to his students, he has degrees in a much wider range of studies, totaling 19 degrees in all. These degrees include an MA in anthropology from Cambridge as well as MRC in psychiatry from the University of Edinburgh though he holds others in geography, history, mathematics, and aviation medicine. 56-year-old Prasad has since retired to his home in India, but he still writes and speaks on many psychiatry topics.

Dr. Manmohan Singh

India’s 13th Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh,  was selected as the Finance Minister of India in 1991. Thereafter, he was selected as the Prime Minister of our Great Nation.  During his tenure of PM of India, people talked about how he was running the government, and lots of time we heard that he was not a strong leader, he was a puppet of Sonia etc. However, please have a look at his academic achievements:

Dr. Manmohan Singh, has one of the strongest of CVs of a politician in India. Inspite of being highly qualified, Dr. Manmohan Singh couldn’t help dirtying his hands in the Rs 1.86 lakh crore Coal Scam. Leave aside the scam, the economic state of affairs in the past decades have been shambolic.

Cyrus P. Mistry

Cyrus Pallonji Mistry, took over the reins of Tata Sons on December 28, 2012.  He was the younger son of construction tycoon Pallonji Mistry and MD of Shapoorji Pallonji.  He helmed Tata Sons for nearly four years and was today replaced as the Chairman of the company by former chief Ratan Tata.

Mistry is a graduate of Civil Engineering from Imperial College, UK (1990) and has a Page on M.Sc. in Management from London Business School (1997). He was also recently bestowed with the Alumni Achievement Award by the London Business School.

Rajiv Bajaj

Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, the Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Bajaj Capital Ltd,  is also the Founding Chairman of Financial Planning Standards Board, India. He has been one of the key people involved in bringing the globally recognized Certified Financial PlannerTM professional designation to India.

Mr. Rajiv Bajaj graduated first in class, with distinction, in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pune in 1988, and then completed his masters in Manufacturing Systems Engineering, with distinction, from the University of Warwick in 1990. He pursued his MBA (International Wealth Management) from University of Geneva, Switzerland and an Executive MBA (International Wealth Management) from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA. He held an 'International Certificate for Financial Advisors' from the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), London, UK. He was also amongst the first batch of 25 Certified Financial Planner (CFPTM) designation holders in India.

Chanda Kochar

She is currently the Managing Director (MD) of ICICI Bank and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

After graduating, she pursued Cost Accountancy ICWAI and also acquired the Masters Degree in Management Studies from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai.

Raghuram Rajan

Last but not the least, Raghuram Govind Rajan, is the son of former intelligence officer R. Govindarajan. The third child in the family, he was born on February 3, 1963 in the Bhopal city of Madhya Pradesh, India.

 

He completed his schooling from ‘Delhi Public School R. K. Puram’ and then went on to ‘Indian Institute of Technology’, Delhi. He was presented with the ‘Director’s Gold Medal’ upon completion of his graduation in electrical engineering from the Ivy League institution, in 1985.

Raghuram then went on to study at the coveted ‘Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad’. In 1987, he completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the celebrated management school with flying colours and earned the distinction of winning the Gold Medal.  Pursuing his Ph.D. overseas, at the ‘MIT Sloan School of Management’, he successfully defended his thesis ‘Essays on Banking’ to receive a doctoral degree in Management in 1991.

There is a large number of beautiful lakes and great rivers spread all over India from Kashmir to Kerala and from Rajasthan to Assam. In India lakes can be divided as man-made lakes as well as natural lakes. Further natural lakes again be divided as freshwater lake and brackish water lakes. Indira Sagar reservoir the big lake is the biggest reservoir in India and The Sambhar Salt Lake is India’s largest inland salt lake. Most of the lakes in India are fresh water lakes, Dal Lake in Kashmir and Sasthamkotta Lake in Kerala are the example of freshwater lakes. These water bodies on the land surface are one of the most beautiful tourist attraction in India. The Cholamu Lake is counted as one of most beautiful lakes in the world. The Lonar Crater the world’s oldest and largest crater in India is located in state of Maharashtra’s District Buldhana. There are so may beautiful lakes which are famous for bird watching such as Kolleru Lake, Pulicat Lake and Nal Sarovar Lake. The Kanwar Taal or Kabar Taal Lake at Bihar is Asia largest Fresh Water lake, Oxbow lake an oxbow lake is a U-shaped body of water.

Wular Lake

Wular Lake, one of the largest fresh water lakes in Asia and the largest in India, is located in Jammu and Kashmir. It is measured 24 kms across and surrounded by towering mountains.

The green water of the Wular Lake is an important natural habitat for fish, a rich population of birds and wildlife. Thousands of people living on its shores and elsewhere in the Kashmir valley depend on Wular Lake for fishing to earn their livelihood. The Kashmir valley has few more beautiful lakes like Nagin Lake and most popular Dal Lake.

Loktak Lake

Loktak Lake is the largest freshwater lake in northeastern India, located in Manipur. It is also called the only floating lake in the world due to the floating phumdis.

 This ancient lake plays an important role in the economy of Manipur. It serves as a source of water for hydro power generation, irrigation drinking water supply and wildlife. The Keibul Lamjao National Park, which is the last natural refuge of the endangered sangai now found only in Manipur.

Damdama Lake

Damdama Lake is one of the biggest natural lakes in Haryana. It is a weekend getaway destination around Delhi. This lake is located near the Aravalli Hills and is the best place for Boating, Rock Climbing, Bungee jumping and trekking.

Sohna Hills is a short drive from Damdama Lake, at top the Aravalli hills. There is another famous lake in Haryana called Sohna Lake. Sohna Lake is situated amidst the Aravalli hills in green city Chandigarh. It is one of the most renowned tourist attractions in Gurgaon.

Dal Lake

The Kashmir valley is blessed with exotic natural beauty of landscape and water bodies, out of them one of the best is Dal Lake. Dal Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes of India and is the second largest in the J&K valley.

This is one of the most famous lakes in India and an icon of the Kashmir tourism industry. Apart from the natural beauty, Dal Lake attractions are The floating gardens, colorful shikaras and houseboats. The east of Dal Lake was the residence of goddess Maa Durga. The Dal lake is situated in the beautiful city of Srinaga,Some of the most famous mosques are also located in Srinagar city to visit.

Pichola Lake

Lake Pichola is an artificial fresh water lake situated in Udaipur city in Rajasthan. Udaipur is a beautiful city, set amidst the Aravalli Ranges of Rajasthan, India. Known for its picturesque lakes, Udaipur also called ‘the city of lakes.

The Lake Pichola, Udai Sagar Lake, Fateh Sagar Lake, Rajsamand Lake and Jaisamand Lake are the five prominent lakes of Udaipur. One of the most famous lake is Pushkar Lake, which is one of the major tourist attractions in the Royal State Rajasthan.

Gurudongmar Lake

Gurudongmar Lake is one of the highest lakes in the world. This fresh-water lake is located northeast of the Kangchenjunga range in Sikkim. Sikkim is considered to have the most beautiful natural lakes in the world some of them are sacred by locals and therefore are places of worship as well as tourism.

There are a series of beautiful lakes in Sikkim the Gurudongmar Lake, is the biggest and most beautiful lake among them. Other lakes are Tsomgo Lake also known as the frozen lake of India and Khecheopalri Lake also known as the wishing lake.

Chilka Lake

Chilka Lake is the brackish water lake and is the largest coastal lake in India. The Chilka Lake in situated in Orissa and is Asia’s largest inland salt-water lagoon.

Brackish water is water that has more salinity than fresh water, but not as much as seawater. Chilika Lake, popularly known as Chilka, is the queen of natural scenery in the tribal state Orissa, also known as the Swiss-lake in the continent. Attraction of chilika lake are fishing boats, migratory birds and an entertaining baba. The beautiful chilka lake is paradise for the migratory birds.

Vembanad Lake

Vembanad Lake is India’s longest lake and is the largest lakes in the beautiful state land of God, Kerala. The Vembanad Lake is the largest brackish lagoon in Kerala.The houseboats and snake race are the major attraction on Vembanad Lake.

Vallam Kali,The Snake Boat Race held every year in august is a major attraction of Vembanad Lake. There are so many lakes in the state one of them is Sasthamkotta lake, Sasthamkotta known as the ‘queen of lakes’ is the largest and biggest freshwater lake in Kerala. The lake also host the longest railway bridge of India, named as Vembanad Rail Bridge.

Bhimtal Lake

The pride of Bhimtal is a beautiful lake which offers magnificent vistas for tourists. The lake is larger than Nainital lake,The island at the center of the lake. Uttaranchal is famous for its valley of flowers, green meadows and spectacular lakes.

Upper lake

Upper lake is the largest artificial lake in Asia, situated in “City of Lakes” called Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Upper lake locally known as Bada Talab is the oldest man-made lake in India and one of the major sources of drinkable water for the city.

 City of lakes, Bhopal has 17 lakes another lake is known as chota talab. These lake are an important destination for canoeing and other water activities. The Takia island in Upper Lake and marine drive are the major attraction of lakes. Bhopal is also considered as one of the green city in India.

Other well-known and beautiful lakes of India include Kolleru Lake, Nal Sarovar, Umiam Lake, Ashtamudi Lake and Pulicat Lake. Kolleru Lake and Pulicat Lake are two major lakes for number of migratory birds in India.
