A waterfall is an area in a stream or river where running water falls down from a high place (such as over the side of a cliff). It is a place where water flows over the edge of a steep, high cliff in hills or mountains, and falls into a pool below. Monsoon in India really gives one of the best natural scenery, rivers are on full swing, mountains are awake after a long sleep and monsoon decorated the whole valleys with sparking waterfalls, magnificent lakes, lush green trees and beautiful flowers. Most of the highest waterfalls are found in the mountains area of North East India.

The Garo, Khasi and Jaintia Hills with its unique landscape, climatic phenomenon of heavy cloud cover and torrential rainfall host the highest waterfalls in India. These waterfalls of India are some of the most spectacular in the world. The milky Dudhsagar, Seven Sister fall and Jog waterfalls are the most beautiful and famous waterfalls of India. The mountain waterfalls are an integral part of the famous hill stations, One of the major waterfalls in north India is Palani falls near Rohtang Pass in Kullu.

Kunchikal Falls (Karnataka)
‘The Kunchikal Falls’ is the highest waterfalls in India and the second highest in Asia. The tallest waterfall of India is located near Agumbe in Shimoga district of Karnataka, with a height of 1493 ft.

Agumbe Valley is among the places in India that receive very heavy rainfall and it has the only permanent rain forest research station in India. India’s biggest waterfall is formed by the Varahi river and lies in the Western Ghats. The Ghats is well famous for its Giant Indian squirrel, Indian bullfrog and other unique birds, rare reptiles and bizarre wild animals.

With a height of 1309 ft, ‘The Barehipani Falls’ is another charming waterfall situated in the core area of Simlipal National Park in Mayurbhanj district of Orissa.

This waterfall is the second highest waterfalls of India. The gorgeous fall is surrounded by deep forest which again adds the wildness to its beauty. This two-tiered’ waterfall is originating near the Bay of Bengal. The Barehipani and Joranda falls are counted amongst the most popular attractions of tribal state Orissa.

The Most Famous Domes in the World

A Dome is termed as a half sphere shaped architecture that is a type of construction which is hollow and the upper half of the sphere is set to the outside weather. A variety of materials is used to make the upper sphere e.g. mud, stone, concrete, brick, wood, metal, grass etc.
Introduced by the Romans at first, the style of domes and the design of such hemispherical structures have gone viral widely and still are used in many areas and in many buildings. It is constantly increasing the beauty of the building it is developed to. Illustrated below are some of the most famous Domes in the World.


Florence Cathedral, Florence (Italy)
Florence Cathedral, situated in Florence (Italy) is one of the most famous tourist places and is also a world heritage site. It got its official name Basilica de Santa Maria del Fiore and is the largest dome in the world with a height of 114 meters. An Italian architect named as Filippo Brunelleschi designed it.

This monument took way too long to complete as it started in 1296 but overall construction completed in 1436. The construction of the dome started in the year 1420 and ended up claiming to be complete in the year 1436. Florence cathedral was the first dome in the world which didn’t use the support of wooden frames. The construction of dome took around 4 million bricks.

It was commissioned by King Asoka, The Great around 3rd Century B.C. It is one of the oldest stone structures in India.
The vast dome, containing the relics of Lord Buddha, is called the great Stupa. It is located in the center chamber. A sandstone pillar is situated near the great Stupa. Asoka has some inscription on it in sankha lipi. In the 2nd century B.C. the Sunga emperor named as Pusyamitra Sunga expanded this monument. The great Stupa illustrates different occurrences from the Lord Buddha’s lifespan.
